Tavin inspire me to create, but God gave me Tavin and my gift to create and

this for business at this point, I'd be losing a heck of alot of
money! LOL

How did you come about deciding to sell your creations? By being in
that first group and seeing what others were doing and selling...that,
too, was inspiration.

Do you sell anywhere besides on Ebay ? Well, I try, but haven't sold
anything. I have a winkelf, etsy and a website, but nothing happening.

LOL

Tell us something unique about you that most people probably don't

About you: I am a happily married mother of one. I’ll be 32 in less than a month!
Birthday? June 20th
Where do you live? Ashville AL. A tiny town in between Gadsden and Birmingham.

Where have you traveled? I have been to Cancun Mexico and Chicago most recently
What's your occupation? Marketing Research
What are your hobbies? I love to read and shop for fabric and ribbon
Favorite food? It’s a toss up between Chinese and Mexican

Photobucket

Favorite TV show? I don’t have a favorite really
Favorite Color? Red
Drink of Choice? Dr. Pepper

About your family:
Married? Yes
How long? 6 years
With kids? yes
How many? 1 2 year old daughter

About designing:
What do you design? Clothing, bows and quilts
How many years have you been designing? About 3 years
How did you get started? I started buying patterns to make clothing for my daughter and started changing them up. So I figured I might could actually sell my pieces
What design groups do you belong to? Oh Baby Boutique and Quilter’s Corner

Photobucket

What's your favorite group/designer? That is a hard one for me. I admire so many of the other designers. I have a hard time narrowing anything down to just one
What are you currently working on? Right now I am working on some summer dresses. I have one outfit that I plan on listing this weekend that I think would be great for beach pictures.
What do you have listed right now? Nothing at the moment. I go through spells where I just want to make up a bunch of pieces that I have in my head. Once I am satisfied with them I then try to get them listed.

What's an interesting fact or story about you that we MUST know? LOL, I’m not really that interesting of a person. I have a memory that drives me crazy! I can remember the least little thing from tax code to a phone number from 15 years ago.

What is your boutique specialty? I’m not really sure I have a specialty per say. I love doing quilts and bed sheets, so maybe that?!?

What is the meaning of your boutique name? How did you decide on it ? My great grandmother used to keep me when my mother was working. She taught me to crochet and hand sew when I was 6 years old. She died several years ago. When I started to back sewing I thought it would be a great tribute to the woman who taught me so much. Her name was Lillie Mae

Do you sell for business or pleasure? Both!

How did you come about deciding to sell your creations? My mother has been a seller on ebay since 1995. She has always encouraged me to find something I love to do and go for it.

Do you sell anywhere besides on Ebay ? Local craft shows.

What inspires your creations? It is mostly the fabric. The design and colors of the fabric are what I go by when deciding what I am going to make. I always just buy up fabric that I like and then go from there.

Do you have a favorite color, design, s t y l e or other that seems to be a constant in all your creations? I love reds and pinks. But as far as s tyle or design being constant I would have to say no. I usually do a sleeveless top for some reason!

Photobucket

Is there anything new you would like to learn craft related or otherwise? I would love to be able to hand smock and embroidery is something else I would like to do.

What do you like to do when you are not crafting? Chase around after my daughter. She is a hand full. I also do a full garden in the summer and can vegetables and pickles.

Tell us something unique about you that most people probably don't know? My great grandmother’s hands were already too bad to teach me how to quilt when she started to teach me sewing. I learned everything that I know about quilting from listening to her talk and reading books.

If you could pick one piece of advice to share with a boutique beginner, what would it be ? Listen to every bit of advice or constructive critcism that you receive. Plus if your design group is having a launch and doing a contest with free giveways: ALWAYS offer a simple piece for the prize. It gets your name and your items out there for people to see!

DESIGNER INTERVIEW AND FEATURED DESIGNER-SAME WEEK!!!!!

Paula
1herosmom

What is your boutique specialty?
Taking vintage pieces of fabric and turning them into the heirlooms of the future.

What is the meaning of your boutique name? How did you decide on it ?
My Carrie Vintage Boutique was named after my daughter, Carrie-who was named after her Great Grandmother, Carrie. My Carrie was KIA in Kirkuk, Iraq in 2005 while on tour of duty with her Army National Guard unit. I found it hard to return to work after her death and ended up leaving my full time job to stay at home with our youngest daughter. During this time, to keep my mind occupied, I started to sew again. My oldest daughter introduced me to Ebay about this time and I decided to try selling. When I found the boutique world I knew I would need a name and without much hesitation, My Carrie came into being.

Do you sell for business or pleasure?
Both

How did you come about deciding to sell your creations?
People used to stop me and ask where my girl's outfits came from and I would say I'd made them and they would ask for a business card or website. Being a Mom and working full time outside of the home left little extra time. When I was all of the sudden a stay at home Mom, I needed a way to help with the finances that didn't mean going away from home. I've sewn more than 1/2 of my life, so it was just a matter of getting up the nerve to sell my sets to someone I didn't know.

Do you sell anywhere besides on Ebay ?
Yes, on Chichichickabee.com.

What inspires your creations?
The fabrics I choose usually talk to me and of course Carrie's flare for fashion.

Do you have a favorite color, design, s t y l e or other that seems to be a constant in all your creations?
Carrie's favorite color was pink-I use it a lot. I like to stay with the old s t y l e s of fashion for girls, meaning lots of ruffles and lace and fru fru...and hats--lots of hats!

Is there anything new you would like to learn craft related or otherwise?
No, I have enough on my plate already.

What do you like to do when you are not crafting?
I garden--flowers and vegetables and fruits. That takes up a lot of my Spring and Summer.

Tell us something unique about you that most people probably don't know?
I'm guessing that most people didn't know that I was a Gold Star Mother.

If you could pick one piece of advice to share with a boutique beginner, what would it be ?
If this is truly your passion, don't give up. And don't ever let someone tell you that you can't do something because you are a woman.
